S.E.R.E.N.A.
S.E.R.E.N.A. – Soluzioni Evolute per la Riabilitazione e l’Engagement di pazienti in Network Assistiti con AI – is an innovative project focused on building an integrated digital ecosystem for the remote and intelligent management of frailty. The initiative combines advanced sensors, wearable devices, artificial intelligence and interoperable digital platforms to create continuity of care between clinical settings and home environments, making rehabilitation safer, more personalized and more effective.
This project is funded under the call for proposals “Bando Tecnologie Strategiche” issued by Direzione Generale Università, Ricerca e Innovazione of Regione Lombardia and sees Neuro-Zone Srl is a partner in this project together with Azcom Technology (project leader), Eletech, ROLD, and Valos.

Main Objectives
- Continuous monitoring and prevention
S.E.R.E.N.A. aims to improve the monitoring of patients in both clinical and home settings, helping prevent critical events and enabling more timely interventions. - Personalized rehabilitation pathways
By combining physiological, behavioral and motor data, the project supports the development of more tailored therapeutic plans, better aligned with each patient’s real needs. - Decision support for healthcare professionals
The AI infrastructure is designed to analyze complex situations in real time, identify anomalies and provide decision support, reducing the burden of manual monitoring. - Greater patient engagement
The project also focuses on increasing patient involvement and therapeutic motivation through intelligent tools and assisted interaction models.
Technological Pillars
S.E.R.E.N.A. is built on four main components: an integrated suite of wearable devices and mmWave radar systems for non-invasive monitoring; AI models for analysis, prediction and assisted interaction; an interoperable digital platform to organize clinical and functional data; and a strong focus on data reliability, validation and privacy.
From technology development to real-world validation
The project is structured into three Work Packages: development of monitoring technologies, design of intelligent modules, and final system integration with validation in a real clinical environment. The final phase will also assess the scalability and replicability of the model in additional contexts such as home care, geriatrics and long-term care.
S.E.R.E.N.A. brings together complementary technological, clinical and scientific expertise to turn applied research into concrete tools supporting the future of rehabilitation.
